Calverhall in Bloom
Planting Pride in Calverhall
Calverhall in Bloom is a volunteer led initiative dedicated to enhancing the appearance and environment of the village for residents, visitors and local wildlife.
Founded in 2020 by local residents Jonathan and Gareth Hales-Povey during the Covid-19 lockdown, Calverhall in Bloom began as a way to bring colour, connection, and hope to the village during a time of isolation. It provided opportunities for residents to engage safely outdoors, support one another and lift community spirits by caring for and improving our shared spaces.
Since then, Calverhall in Bloom has continued to grow, with volunteers planting and maintaining seasonal flowers, planters, and green spaces across Calverhall. Regular planting days and tidy-up sessions are organised throughout the year, and all residents are welcome to join, regardless of gardening experience.
Calverhall in Bloom is proud to be a member of The Royal Horticultural Society and takes part in the Britain in Bloom competition. In 2024, the village achieved a Silver Award, recognising the hard work of volunteers and the community's commitment to improving and caring for Calverhall's environment.
Calverhall in Bloom is also heavily involved in hosting community events throughout the year, including:
- Quiz nights
- Fairs (Apple Day, Christmas Fair)
- Educational events on wildlife, gardening, and sustainability
These events help raise funds for planting projects while providing opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and enjoy being part of village life.
If you would like to get involved, sponsor a planter, donate plants, or join one of their volunteer days, then please get in touch with them directly.
