Community Bus Service – North Salop Wheelers

North Salop Wheelers (NS Wheelers) is a charitable community transport organisation dedicated to providing affordable and inclusive transportation for residents of North Shropshire, particularly those in rural areas like Ightfield. Operating under not-for-profit Section 19/22 Permits (Transport Act, 1985), NS Wheelers aims to assist individuals who may face challenges accessing public or private transport due to age, disability, isolation, or economic hardship.

Regular Market Bus Services

NS Wheelers offers regular bus services connecting rural villages to local market towns.

Wednesdays – Market Drayton:

Route 1: Departs around 09:00 from Wem, passing through Whixall / Coton, Prees, Whitchurch, Ash, Ightfield, and Calverhall to Market Drayton.

Fridays – Whitchurch Market:

Route 2: Departs around 08:30 from Wem, through Fauls Green, Bletchley, Calverhall, Ightfield, Ash, and Broughall to Whitchurch. Return at approximately 11:45.

These services are tailored to passenger needs and can be adjusted based on demand.

Individual Journeys

For individual transport needs, such as medical appointments, NS Wheelers collaborates with Shropshire Council's Community Car Service. If the Council's service is unavailable, NS Wheelers may assist directly. Charges align with Shropshire’s Community Car Service rates, currently at 45p per mile, calculated from the driver's starting point.

Group Hire

NS Wheelers offers group hire services with a driver for social and recreational purposes, accommodating up to 16 passengers, including wheelchair users. Bookings require at least one month's notice. Costs start at £100 plus £1 per mile, varying based on distance and journey specifics.

Get Involved

As a volunteer-driven organisation, NS Wheelers welcomes assistance in various roles, including drivers, passenger assistants, administrative support, and marketing. Volunteering not only supports the community but also offers personal fulfilment.
